Commercial crab season is officially open, the boats were out last night jockeying for position in the bay waiting for 12:01am when they could begin pulling their first pots of the season. A new state law limits the number of pots that a single boat can drop, protecting smaller local crab boats from the huge 2,000 pot boats that have been coming down here from Oregon and Washington to gorge themselves in the six weeks of the season.
Many apologies again that Poppy's is not open on Opening Day. Mark and Angela are scrambling to get their very cool 1965 Commander trailer outfitted and graphic wrapped. We are expecting a mid December open. The good news is that they are in this for the long haul - Poppy's will be open year round from here on out, with a continually changing surf & turf menu of the freshest local fish and crab on the Coast. Thank you for your continued support!
Check our Facebook and Twitter for regular updates - we will also be rolling out our new cookbook, "Poppy's Crab Shack Cookbook: The Story of a Season". Coming soon!
